Keys to Unlocking Your Potential
These keys are by no means
exhaustive. I have chosen these 4 just for the purpose of this piece.
Demand and Pressure
- God will sometimes place a demand on the potential inside you. Your response
should be obedience. Is God calling you to serve in a certain area? Are you
resisting the call? God will never call you to do what He has not equipped you
to do. You will sometimes be squeezed and be under a lot of pressure. This is
all part of God’s design to bring out the best in you. His grace is always
sufficient for you. He will not let you go through what He knows you cannot
bear. Serving God will unlock the treasures he has deposited inside you.
What you love to do
- What you love doing without motivation from people is a good indication of the
treasure that God has deposited in you. What do not struggle with, what comes to
you naturally and what you don’t care if they pay you or don’t pay you is a good
indication of your gifting. Concentrate on working to do these things better
rather than trying to work on your weaknesses. The fact that something is your
weakness means that you are not wired for that thing. Stop working on your
weaknesses and start working on your strengths to make them better.
What angers you
- How many times have you seen a problem and something rises up in you that you
have to do something about this? Many of us get this nudge but we quickly
dismiss it after some time. The only reason why you feel like that is because
you are carrying something on the inside of you that can solve the problem. It's
not everyone that will be angered by the same thing that angers you. In fact
some people will not even see anything wrong with it. One of your purpose is to
solve a problem that no one else can solve. You are a solution to that issue,
that problem that has been keeping you up at night. Follow through on your
inklings.
Prophetic Declaration
– This is blessing pronounced on you by a prophet of God that has authority over
you. This kind of blessing is a spiritual empowerment for success. Prophetic
declaration does not deposit potential in you. You already have the potential
you need to achieve your purpose. It unlocks the treasures inside you and
catapults you to success. Be expectant and position yourself to receive the
blessings that will release your potential.
AN EXAMPLE - THE TV REMOTE CONTROL
I will like to use the remote control as an
illustration. We all have at least one of this at home. We basically use it to
turn on and off the TV, change channels and increase or decrease the volume. A
lot of us live our lives the same way we use the remote control. If you look
very well at the TV remote control; it can do much more than the 3 things I just
highlighted, but because we don’t read the manufacturer’s manual that comes with
it we have not been able to fully maximize the it’s potential. In the same way
our life is more than sleeping and waking, it is more than going to work and
visiting friends, it is more than talking with our friends. If only we consult
with our maker we can find out that we are worth more than we think we are just
as this remote control can do more than we care to use it for.
