Your Potential In Christ Jesus (2)
By Ola Olafunmiloye
Text: Romans 12:6-8 (NLT)
What is the Source of your potential? If
you were born with treasures, then God must have put it there. God is the source
of our abilities. Deuteronomy 8:18 says
“It is the LORD your God who gives you power to become rich.”
You might also be wondering by now what the
potentials in you are. To answer that question you must know why God has created
you, in other words you must know your purpose. It is in knowing the purpose of
something that you can begin to imagine the potential or the abilities it
possess. Your purpose reveals the potential inside you and your potential
enables you to fulfill your purpose.
Every one of us is unique. There is a purpose
for each of our lives. We are not here by accident. We are here on earth for a
temporary assignment. Knowing your assignment, your purpose; simplifies and
motivates your life. You are able to focus because you have something you are
aiming for. You are not just going as one that beats the air.
Why did God put potential in people?
You were given the abilities you have so that
you use it to glorify God.
1 Cor. 10:31 says; “ …whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God.”
Your abilities and talents are a good indication
of what God wants you to do with your life but they are not just for making a
living. You can make a difference in the kingdom of God with your abilities. You
bring glory to God when you serve others with your gifts and talents. Don’t be
selfish with your talents, use it to benefit others. God expects us to give back
to the world what He has given us. We are not expected to take the treasures
back to heaven. Really, you cannot take them back to heaven, they are not needed
there neither are they useful in the grave. You have heard it before that
"the grave is the richest place on earth". The grave is full of unused
treasures. What a better world we could have been living in today? Decide today
that you will die empty, that you will live your life far above average to the
maximum.
Whatever your profession, you can use it for
God’s glory. There is no one else on earth that can take your place.
